| Comments: | Well, it is nice that most have had a good experience with Kooikers, we have NOT. We bought ours from Denmark in 1999. She had hip dysplasia and slipping knee caps, probably as a result of the inbreeding since there are so few of these dogs. she is mean and will bite anyone who even looks at her who is not part of the family, although my husband and son cannot get near her. Sorry, but people need to know there are bad experiences with this breed as well. |

Someone suggested the Kooiker to me and having researched, find that I have fallen in love with this dog. I have had dogs all my life and my dogs are my family. Currently I am dogless having lost my other dogs (all of whom had been abused, rescued dogs) after long and full lives. Looking forward to any other info you can give me. |

| Comments: | We picked up our dear hound from a shelter, and assumed she was a cocker/king charles mix. However, she is physically indistinguishable from all the pictures of koikers I have seen. Tempermentally, however, she's almost the opposite of the descriptions. Giddily seeks out strangers. Excitable. Anything but reserved. | Comments: | I got my dog from a rescue organization here in Atlanta, GA. There was a woman there that told me that someone had told her that my new dog was a Kooikerhoundje. After some researh, I believe that she actually is. She has EVERY charistic except that she is slightly taller and heavier and that her tail slightly curls over her back. I wonder if someone breed her and she was not a PERFECT breed so they did not want her. I would like to post her picture with you permission and see what people think. I just find it hard to believe that they are such rare dogs and that after 2 years (that was that age that the vet believes she was when i got her) that someone would not want her.
